What is dance?
Before I get a chance to answer this question -
I'm going to ask another one...
What is rhythm?
Rhythm is vibration,
and
vibration is movement,
and this movement is what we here as sound.
Everything moves and everything speaks.
The sound of wind that pushes through the leaves of trees
rustles a rhythm that we call a breeze.
Rhythm - the trickle of a dripping faucet.
Rhythm - the constant flow of waves at the ocean's shore.
Rhythm - the sound of a subway train speeding over its tracks.
Dance is human rhythm.
When sounds pass through our ears and we hear the beats and melodies of the music of life,
our bodies move and sway and swing and jump and stretch and flex and fold and
free us in ways nothing else can.
Dance is expression.
Dance is communication.
Dance is our soul's vacation.
